I see a textbook in Blackboard, do I need to pay for it?

I see a textbook included in my Blackboard course via a link - do I need to pay for it, and if so, how?

Answer

Selected courses are designated Inclusive Access (otherwise known as First Day Adoption). Students should be able to view that designation when looking up textbook assignments on the school 's bookstore webpage. Students in these courses pay a fee upon registration and do NOT have to pay for the textbook out of pocket. Instructors place a link to the eBook in their Blackboard pages, and students click on the link to set up access. Students have the option to "opt out" of the Inclusive Access until Census Date if they do not wish participate. Even if students see a price listed on the eBook link, they should not have to pay if the course is Inclusive Access. If they are still being asked to pay, refer them to their instructor for clarification and trouble-shooting.
