What is the difference between the Reference Desk and the Circulation Desk?

I'm confused about where to go for help!

Answer

The Reference Desk is the place to go for help with research:  finding books or  online sources, help with the databases, understanding citation styles and help with citing, etc. There is always a professional Librarian at the desk to help you with your research questions.  Reference help = research help by a librarian.

The Circulation Desk is staffed with experienced staff that can solve printer and computer issues, sign out study rooms to you (when they are open), check out books to you, get books from reserves for you to use in the library, answer your questions about locations and services,  and help you with any other issues while using the library. In "library speak"  checking out books is "circulating" them to you which is why it's called the Circulation Desk.
